Match Report-
After their all-round performance against PWI, KXIP were high on confidence. In home conditions, with full packed stadium, they were expected if not win at least to put up a fight against mighty Chennai Super Kings. But they were outplayed by CSK in every department. After winning the toss and choosing to field first, Gilchrist got out early, M.Hussey took a brilliant catch at an unusual fielding position that he has set for Gilly. Manddep Singh also failed in the same over of Nannes. David Hussey and Vohra steadied their innings after the 2 setbacks. In 7th over Vohra lost his wicket after the team posted 50 on the board in 7th over. Young Gurkeerat Singh joined D.Hussey and had a good partnership. They scored the runs at very good rate. CSK got the wicket of D.Hussey at very good time. 116 was the score when D.Hussey failed, and it was just the 14th over's start. But after that, KXIP lost their way and lost their wickets in heap. In last 5 overs they could just managed to score 22 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. They were all out in 19.5 overs.
CSK started their chase cautiously. They gave respect to the bowlers for the first 5-6 overs. Vijay was very cautious, he didn't want to loose his wicket. On the other hand M.Hussey started to unleash, he maintained a constant strike-rate of 135+ in his innings. The real drama started when P.Chawla bowled his first over. He himself dropped M.Hussey and couple of balls later,Vijay also survived as Gilly missed stumping chance. In next over, M.Hussey was very lucky. His toe end of the bat was just in (5mm) and third umpire turned down the confident run-out appeal. The benefit of doubt was given to the batsman. After that there was no one stopping Vijay and M.Hussey. Vijay scored 50 of 50 balls while M.Hussey scored 86(54). Both being at the crease till the end CSK won comfortably with 10 wickets and 16 balls to spare.

My Views-

Along with M.Hussey Vijay also played a very good supporting role. When your partner is hitting, sometimes you try to match him and while doing that, may loose your wicket. But Vijay didn't try to match M.Hussey and played  his natural game. His strike-rate was at one stage just below 70. But he made up for that and scored 50(50) with strike rate of 100. This will be a confidence gaining win for CSK! KXIP were totally outplayed. They didn't have any partnership apart from D.Hussey and Gurkeerat's! So CSK's whistle podu has registered their first win in the tournament. My favorite team!!!
