Match Report-
Unlike the first match on super Sunday, this match went on and on... After 40 overs the scores were tied, and hence the result was decided via Super Over (1 over eliminator)
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, all eyes were on the battle between Chris Gayle vs Dale Steyn! But that wasn't to be! Courtesy of wonderful bowling by Hanuma Vihari. Sangakkara called Vihari to bowl his part time off-spinners for just one over. And he did his job getting huge wicket of Chris Gayle! After Gayle's dismissal RCB's batsmen tumbled! Apart from Kohli (46) Henriques (44) no one got double digit score. That tells you all how well the SRH's bowler bowled! Ishant Sharma being pick of the bowlers took 3 important wickets of Dilshan, Henriques and Vinay Kumar. RCB managed to score 130/8 after 20 overs. It was a fighting total, given that just couple of nights ago SRH defended 126 successfully on that very ground.
RCB's bowlers bowled pretty well and brought their team back in the game very quickly. They took wickets and regular intervals. Some international stars like White, Sangakkara, P. Patel, T.Perera failed to stand and show the way. Wickets were falling at one end, and Vihari was quietly rotating the strike and scoring runs. Needing 7 runs off last over with 4 wickets in hand, Vihari was at non-striker's end. Ashish Reddy tried to hit a big shot of death bowling specialist Vinay Kumar's first ball of final over gave a simple catch to RCB captain Kohli. New batsman Steyn hit the next ball hard and picked up 2 runs. Steyn missed the next ball and took single on the fourth.Needing 4 from 2, Vihari digged out the yorker and ran 2 runs. Vihari missed the last bowl, which went to keeper but Steyn ran for his life and got through to the other end and completed the single.... And so the match was tied!!!
In the Super Over SRH batted first. Vinay Kumar was given the responsibility, who bowled first ball high full toss which was a "no ball", Perera ran for the single which meant SRH got 2 runs with 6 balls to go. On next 2 balls, White and Perera took single each. But on next four balls White scored 16 runs (6,2,6,2)! RCB needed 21 runs to win. With Gayle around it was possible for them to make those 21 runs. Dale Steyn premier fast bowler gave just 3 runs off the first 2 balls that he bowled to Gayle. Kohli stuck a boundary and took single of next 2 balls. With 12 needed to tie again, Gayle hit the first ball to straight six, but couldn't repeat that on the lost ball, and RCB lost the match!!!
Hanuma Vihari who played brilliant innings was named Man Of The Match!

My Views-

This match was a classic example of how much RCB depends on Chris Gayle. If Gayle fires RCB wins and if he doesn't RCB collapses. For RCB one of the top 3 (Gayle, Dilshan and Kohli) needs to make big runs 50+ in every match. They have good bowling line-up, but it will be a huge task if they get low scores to defend. Vinay Kumar is proving himself as a death bowler specialist. He bowls beautiful slower ones. But in super over the pressure got better of him.
Like RCB, SRH also need to look after their batting. Sangakkara, White, Parthiv Patel need to fire for them to get a good score. They have very good bowling line up with Steyn leading the attack along with Mishra and Ishant Sharma!
