Match Report-
SRH were back in their home after 3 away games, from which they won 2. They were playing against the KXIP who won their last match beating the defending champs KKR, so they were high on confidence.
Adam Gilchrist of KXIP won the toss and chose to bat first on the wicket that was a patchy one, with lot's of patches. Gilly got a start today but couldn't capitalize on it. He hit 4 boundaries in his innings of 26(25)! SRH played two leg spinners which worked quite well for them! Karan Sharma one of the leggie took wickets of Gilchrist and Valthaty! Both the leggies were creating problems for the KXIP's batsmen. So they sent in Piyush Chawla, left hand batsman, and a leg spinner himself after the 3rd wicket failed. He hit 2 sixes on the bowling of Karan Sharma. He played Amit Mishra well. But after scoring 23(15) balls he was ran out, in the 15th over. After that Gurkeerat Singh and Hussey played well. Gurkeerat hit a six on the bowling of Mishra. Hussey too hit a six on Ishant Sharma's length ball. Hussey got out in 17th over, when the score was 107/5. But after that they just kept loosing wickets. And could managed to score only 123/9 in 20 overs. This score was below par, but KXIP stand in with chance because, SRH's batting hadn't clicked in the tournament.
Praveen Kumar bowled a wicket maiden over, first up, getting rid of South African wicket keeper batsman Quinton de Kock! After that Akshath Reddy and Hanuma Vihari were looking good t the crease. Till Akshath Reddy got out in 8th over, courtsey a brilliant catch by Azhar Mahmood. Vihari continued his well managed innings along with captain White, till he got out in 12th over for well composed innings of 46(39)! White and Samntray couldn't quite capitalize on the start they got. After both got out, the score was 97/5(16.1 overs). 27 runs required off 23 balls. Everyone thought that this match will go down till the wire. Requiring 18 in 2 overs, Perera hit Mahmood for a six first ball, that eased the pressure. After that they did it easily. Perera hit him for couple of more sixes to seal the match with 7 balls to spare.

My Views-

Gilchrist played a master stroke when he sent in Piyush Chawla ahead of Mahmood, Vohra and Mascarenhas! But after that, trying to hit a six every ball all the batsmen after Chawla felt apart. No one tried to play till the end! They lost 4 wickets on 4 consecutive balls (3 in Amit Sharma's over, one of which was run-out and 4th on Steyn's over's 1st ball). That horrified end meant that they needed to take early wickets. PK managed to get one early, but Vihari played solid innings. And this time around SRH fans will be pleased to see that, this game didn't finish on the last ball! Perera hit 3 sixes to finish the game in style and to go on the top of the points table!
