Match Report-
Once again a high scoring match at Wankhede Stadium, but a one sided one. Mumbai Indians outplayed Pune Warriors India. Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Pounting and Sachin gave MI a good start. Sachin was in attacking mood from the word go. He hit Ashoke Dinda for 4 consecutive boundaries. That set the tone. Yuvi dismissed Ponting on the first ball of his spell, caught by A.Nayar. They both shared partnership of 56 runs. Karthik who was in sublime form also scored at a good rate. Sachin and Karthik scored 44 and 4 respectively in 29 balls each. But it was Rohit Sharma who played magnificent innings of 62 not out off just 32 balls. The score which at one stage read, 104/2 after 14 overs (Run Rate 7.02) was 183/3 in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma, Karthik and Pollard in the end hit the ball hard and got 79 runs in last 6 overs.
184 was a stiff target for PWI. But their openers had blasted the Rajsthan Royals' attack just a couple of nights ago. So PWI had a chance on that beautiful wicket! But Mitchell Johnson had some other plans. He knocked the middle stump of the first ball to get rid off Finch. In the 2nd over Ross Taylor was run out and in very next over Uthappa lost his wicket to Johnson whose ball uprooted the off-stump. Suman took the attack to MI by hitting 4 boundaries, till he got out on 23(15). Yuvraj and Mathews couldn't capitalize on the start that they got. But Mitchell Marsh played some breath-taking strokes in his innings of 38(26)! Till then the match could have gone either way, MI made sure that they win convincingly in the end. For this Match, from Nita Ambani's project Education For All, 11,000 students were invited in the Wankhede Stadium to watch the legends play. In those 11,000, 8,000 were under-privileged students. They must have enjoyed the match thoroughly!

My Views-

MI have won 2 in 2 matches played on Wankhede's pitch. It's a wonderful pitch for batting. Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik are in sublime form. It will be interesting to see how they play on slow pitches like Eden Gardens, Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium etc. On the other hand death bowler specialist Ashoke Dinda gave away 64 runs in his 4 overs that hurt PWI. He tried to many things instead of just concentrating on the yorkers. PWI has won only a single game so far. They need to gel up quickly. They also need to take harsh decisions like leaving Mathews out to make way for Steve Smith (RCB left their captain Vettori for balancing the playing XI)
